The next fall is going to see Apple release the new iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. With the iPhone 6 being more than 9 months old now, and the launch of the iPhone 6s less than a quarter away, it is the perfect time to sit down and see how the two phones compare, especially now that we know a bit more about the next iPhone.
There have been a few rumours about the specs of the iPhone 6s, and we expect the rumours to continue to reveal more details about the next iPhone. As is always the case, we are all excited to see what Apple will bring to the tablet next, just as you are.
Apple is currently testing the next version of iOS. Most recently, the Cupertino released a new beta of iOS 9 for public testing. While the new version of iOS is being tested on the iPhone 6 by the public, Apple is extremely tight lipped about new features in the software that could reveal more details about the iPhone 6s.
In case you are looking at buying an iPhone in the near future, it is quite probable that you are reading this article because you are interested in the next iPhone. There are a lot of readers like you, interested in knowing more about the iPhone 6s, and we try to compile a list of every information about the phone.
Launch date of the iPhone 6s
While there have been a bunch of rumours about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6s launch, there is still no solid information about the actual launch date. That being said, almost all the rumours point at a launch in the fall later this year, going by the most common Apple launch windows.
There are reports that suggest Apple has already begun manufacturing the iPhone 6s. According to Bloomberg, the next iPhone is in early stages of manufacturing. What this means is that Apple has finalized all the hardware specifications, and the software is being tested thoroughly both internally as well by the public.
Earlier at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference, the company also confirmed that iOS 9 will launch this fall. Looking back at the launch of new iOS versions, we can be sure that this more or less confirms that the iPhone 6s will be the first device to carry iOS 9.
Display
The specs aspect of the iPhone 6s is still a mystery for the most part, which is a bit surprising given the recent track record of the rumour mill when it comes to iPhones. However, there are a few reports out there that suggest that Apple will continue to stick with the 4.7 inch screen size and a similar screen resolution.
This also fits in well with the Apple update model – the “s” versions of iPhones always come with the same screen size and resolution. As such, we expect the iPhone 6s Plus to also come with a 5.5 inch display, in line with the iPhone 6 Plus.
Force Touch
We have seen Apple’s new Force Touch technology on two devices so far – the Apple Watch and the new Macbook. We expect Apple to expand the product support by implementing it in the iPhone 6s (and the 6s Plus).
With support for Force Touch present in iOS 9, it makes more sense for Apple to add it to the iPhone 6s. In case you are not clear what Force Touch is about – it is a technology that can differentiate between a tap and a long press. This will let the OS open a secondary menu if it detects a long press, for example.
iPhone 6 design language to be reiterated in 6s
Apple tends to be more iterative in its design and product decisions, until the company changes track completely to make a disruptive move. This may not happen though, with the iPhone 6s said to feature the same design, small upgrades in the camera department, with the memory and storage options also being the same. In the same breath, Apple is also going to retain the same prices for the iPhone 6s.
If you are looking to make an upgrade, you may want to look out for the iPhone 6s. If that is not exciting enough, you could still wait for it to launch before buying an iPhone 6, as we expect the prices to fall after the launch.
