Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 are two of the most interesting devices announced at Mobile World Congress. While you can’t miss with any of these two — both are top notch — we know that some folks “can’t live with a Samsung phone” or “just hate HTC.” Some man you just can’t reach.
Another thing worth point out – it’s not all about specs. Megapixels and megahertz can be tricky. Samsung uses its own Exynos chip inside the Galaxy S6, whereas the HTC relies on Qualcomm’s latest (and greatest) Snapdragon 810 SoC.
Furthermore, HTC opted NOT to follow the QHD trend and is rather sticking to a full HD screen. Some people will hate it for that, some won’t care that much. When you think about it – do you really need that many pixels on a 5-inch screen? Or would you rather have a faster phone all time round? At the end of the day, it’s a matter of personal preferences.
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be available in two different variants, one with a regular screen and another with Edge display. You may want to test out those Edge models before spending a single dime. While this sort of screen adds to the overall design, it invites for accidental taps on the display.
So many things to consider. Here are the “raw specs” of the two phones:
| Samsung Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge | HTC One M9 | |
| OS | Android 5.0.2 with TouchWIZ | Android 5.0.2 w/ Sense 7.0 |
| SoC | Samsung Exynos 7 SoC | Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core (4 x 2.0Ghz, 4 x 1.5Ghz) |
| Screen | 5.1-inch QHD 2560×1440 Super AMOLED display | 5.0-inch 1920×1080 Super LCD 3 |
| Memory | 3GB RAM / 32, 64 or 128 GB internal storage | 3GB RAM / 32GB internal storage |
| Rear camera | 16MP camera with F1.9 lens | 20MP with F2.2 lens |
| Front camera | 5MP | 4MP UltraPixel with F2.0 lens |
| Battery | 2,550mAh / 2,600mAh | 2,840mAh |
| Size | 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm, 138 grams / 142.1 x 70.1 x 7 mm, 132 grams | 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61 mm, 157 grams |
| Extra | barometer, heart rate, wireless charging, fingerprint reader | HTC BoomSound speakers, all-metal body |
In addition, both devices support Category 6 LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and come with all the usual sensors like gyro, accelerometer and so on.
So which of the two/three phones you prefer?
