A few days ago we have heard the rumors that NVIDIA could be thinking about launching its second-gen NVIDIA shield tablet which if the rumors are to be believed, could be powered by the company’s new Tegra X1 chipset. If you were skeptical when you heard the rumors, perhaps you’ll want to rethink that because NVIDIA has since sent out invites to their event.
According to the invitation sent out by NVIDIA, the company will be hosting a special event which will take place on the 3rd of March and will be held in San Francisco. The event at San Francisco suggests that it would not be part of MWC 2015 and based on the wording, it does sound pretty mysterious. The invite reads, “More than 5 years in the making, what I want to share with you will redefine the future of game.”
While we’re wondering if this could be the next-gen NVIDIA shield, the phrasing certainly doesn’t suggest that is the case. In fact based on the graphics of the invite, it looks like a rendering of the opening of a laptop – perhaps we could be looking at a tablet/hybrid device? Or perhaps given that NVIDIA’s core business has to do with GPUs, perhaps we might be treated to a brand new GPU instead.
In any case we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more information, but if you’re interested in seeing what NVIDIA has to offer, remember to check back with us on the 3rd of March for the details.
