HTC's unannounced Desire 626 shows up again, specs confirmed

HTC's unannounced Desire 626 shows up again, specs confirmed
Last month, we told you about the HTC Desire 626, an unannounced smartphone that we might see at MWC 2015. The existence of the Desire 626 is now confirmed, though not by HTC. The new device was approved by China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, which revealed some photos of it, alongside an almost complete list of features.

As previously reported, the Desire 626 is a 5-inch (720 x 1280) mid-range handset. It currently runs Android 4.4 KitKat, though it's said that it will be updated to Android Lollipop. The 626 that was approved in China is powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, and, contrary to what we initially heard, only has 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage space (expandable via microSD). LTE, a 13 MP rear camera with flash, and a 5 MP front-facing camera are also included. The new smartphone weighs 135 grams, and measures 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.19 mm, while its battery is supposed to be a 2000 mAh one.

All in all, the Desire 626 looks a lot like the recently-announced Desire 826, with the notable difference that its front-facing camera isn't centered above the display (and, of course, the 626 is smaller, since the 826 sports a 5.5-inch screen). We're expecting the Desire 626 to be affordable, though it's not clear when, and neither where it's going to be sold (except for China).
