Today, we’ve announced the new Xperia Z series flagship devices – Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. These premium devices feature the highest level of waterproofing, enhanced camera technology and apps, and our best audio quality and PS4 Remote Play*.

Xperia Z3 & Xperia Z3 Compact – flagship smartphone series
Xperia Z3 has a 7.3mm rounded aluminum frame and tempered glass panels, weighs just 152g, and is available in white, black, copper or silver green colors (silver green available in select markets only). Xperia Z3 Compact has a rounded liquid reflection frame with tempered glass panels, and is just 8.6mm thick and 129g. Xperia Z3 Compact’s unique color range includes orange and green, in addition to white and black. Both are also fully waterproof** (IP 65/68).

Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact integrate a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 801 processor with 2.5 GHz quad-core CPU with 4G LTE modem. Xperia Z3 has 3GB RAM, and Xperia Z3 Compact has 2GB RAM. The 20.7MP camera inside has a 1/2.3” ExmorRS™ for mobile image sensor, new 25mm wide-angle Sony G Lens and the world’s first ISO 12800 sensitivity in a smartphone for better detail, even in low light.

Xperia Z3 has 5.2” Full HD display, whileXperia Z3 Compact has a 4.6” 720p HD display. Both use on Sony’s TRILUMINOS™ Display for mobile with Live Color LED, X-Reality for mobile and intuitive contrast enhancement. And both include improved SteadyShot™ technology, video recording in 4K resolution at four times Full HD, and advanced video mode for pausing and resuming video in one file.

Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact support PS4 Remote Play, so you can use the smartphone as a remote screen to connect to and control your games on PS4. Additionally, the PlayStation App lets you use your Xperia Z3 or Xperia Z3 Compact as a second screen to remotely watch the game play of your friends, communicate with PSN™ friends, or purchase PS4 games and download to PS4.

Xperia Z3 is also available in a Dual SIM variant in select markets. Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact will launch globally from autumn 2014. For more information, check out the white paper links at the bottom of this post.

Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact – the world’s slimmest and lightest compact tablet
Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is the slimmest (6.4mm) and lightest (270g) compact tablet***, is waterproof and dust-tight (IP65/68), and is the only tablet with PS4™ Remote Play*. It’s designed with stainless steel corners, a slim rounded frame and a tempered glass front, and is available in white or black color. Develop for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
A number of Sony developer tools and APIs are available for the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, including the the possibility to develop SmartWatch 2 apps. You can also make your imaging app part of the Xperia Z3 series’ camera app with the Camera Add-on API.
